Focus on financial markets of Central Asia

Representatives of the National Association of Investment Institutions (NAII) actively participated in the “XX Eurasian Bond Congress”, held on June 13-14, 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The key discussion topics at the event were macroeconomic forecasts in global markets, the Turkish financial market, investment opportunities in the CIS countries, Islamic banking, and investment ideas.


Chairman of the NAII, professional mediator Bahodir Atakhanov and member of the Association’s board of directors, CEO of Portfolio Investments Munir Yakubov spoke at the panel section “Opportunities for issuers and investors in the financial markets of the Eurasian space.”  In general, the section speakers represented all Central Asian countries, Azerbaijan, and Russia, with Atakhanov also serving as moderator.


Atakhanov introduced the conference participants to the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in the management of state property and the securities market, including legislative innovations and the “Regulatory Sandbox” of the capital market, as well as the use of mediation as an alternative method for the peaceful resolution of investment disputes and disagreements.


Munir Yakubov drew the attention of conference participants to investment opportunities in Uzbekistan in light of the rapidly growing economy and the benefits and preferences provided in the country's capital market.


The Сonference participants received answers to their questions from the speakers, and also, within the program of this event, had the opportunity to informally exchange their opinions and expectations.


In addition, taking into account the integration process within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), this event allowed participants from the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan to better learn about the state of development of the Turkish financial market, including from relevant speakers. Key-note speech at the conference was from Ekrem Arikan, head of the Central Securities Depository of Turkey (MKK), chairman of the Association of Eurasian Central Depositories (AECSD), and board member of the World Forum of Central Depositories (WFC).
